Who we are
Platero Green School was born in the 1960s as a kindergarten. In 1979, it was the first Educational Cooperative School in Málaga, where innovation became a focus in the Learning – Teaching process.
The Beginnings
It worked as a kindergarten at the beginning although a few years later, it increased its educational stages as the children were growing older.
Some years later, in the 1970s it was acquired by Mr Vílchez Mesa, who was a teacher at the school, and Mr Toro Pineda. The school expanded in order to give an answer to the requests of the new students who were coming from all over the town. This way, Platero completed all the school levels included in the old E.G.B.
The Cooperative Teaching Centre
In 1979, there was a great change in the school and it became the first Cooperative Teaching Centre in Málaga, where all the teaching and non – teaching staff were involved in its integral, social and cultural development.
This group was great because of its disposition and aptitude to go with it and carry out the widely held of socializing our school whatever the cost. They were hard times of working in extraordinary general meetings and group work in order to look for the methodological system that could be just right for our will to teach students.
With the effort of all we got what we had in mind from the beginning, and this was that Platero Green School was a reference within education in Málaga due to a continuous innovation that made it worthy of a deserving fame for its educational model, in which values are as important as knowledge.
Nowadays, Platero is a Cooperative State School which depends on Junta de Andalucía. It offers the three educational stages (Infants School, Primary Education and Compulsory Secondary Education), a big family with more than five hundred students and nearly forty teachers involved in the Educational System).
Quality Referent
Platero Green School doesn’t only show its quality in education but in the different services that offers to all the members of the educational community: new facilities in extension process. The Play Room Service starts at half past seven in the morning, the Canteen has got its own home cooking with all kinds of Mediterranean meals, rich in vegetables and high quality products which satisfy the nutritional needs of our children, the School Coaches from Carretera de Cádiz to Chilches and a great variety of out of school activities, some of the most demanded ones are those carried out in El Candado Club, such as tennis, paddle, golf and sailing and kayaking activities.
That is why because Platero Green School has really identifying features in our society, very well known in the world of education which gives an efficient education of quality in a close family atmosphere.
